Installation of secondary runway beam to transfer materials

Type BA BeamClamp products were used in conjunction with a pedestal bracket to create a connection for a secondary runway beam to the existing steel structure. The gap was allowed for by a pre-fabricated pedestal bracket and then the beams were secured together using the Type BA Clamps. The benefit of using this system was that the existing steel only needed to be measured and then the clamps were fixed directly to the steel flange without having to drill or weld on site. It also provided flexibility for final adjustment before the clamps were tightened to their recommended torque that then gives them a 5 to 1 Factor of Safety in both tensile and frictional loading conditions. No skilled labour was required to install this system and no site power was required to the location.
